Having recently signed to Parlophone, singer/songwriter,
multi-instrumentalist and visual artist Natasha Khan,
AKA Bat for Lashes is set to release
What’s A Girl To Do, her third single
from the hugely popular and universally acclaimed album
Fur And Gold.
After completing her first UK headline tour last month, Natasha was asked to take part in Vogue’s Women Who Rock feature with artists as diverse as Cat Power, Beth Ditto and M.I.A, shot by legendary fashion photographer Nick Knight. As if to confirm her imminent status among female pop royalty, Bjork personally requested Bat for Lashes to support her at the Rock En Seine festival in Paris this August (“I saw Bat For Lashes in England; she was amazing” – Bjork, Urb Magazine)
Natasha continues to experiment with her sound and has re-recorded the album version of the sultry break up lament What’s A Girl To Do, a tongue in cheek ode to the 60s girl group genre. The song inhabits a place of lost love, love that has died set to playful Shangri-Las inspired pop. The b-side features a remix by Warp’s Plaid as well as a live version of the dark and haunting Sarah, staggeringly different to the album version and featuring the sound of her infamous percussive stick, mercilessly hitting the stage floor.
